To Wait in Faith
Updated: Jul 17
Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” Those of you who have been in many battles are now being asked to be still. To be still means to rest. To rest means, one must be patient. To be patient, one must trust that God will work everything out for good. To trust that God will work everything out for good one must have faith. To have faith one must walk out Hebrews 11:1-3. Hebrews 11:1-3 states “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval.” Thus, to be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him a person must be willing to believe that God is a promise keeper and that what he showed you will come to pass. The enemy comes to kill, and destroy. He delights in division and breaking down your spirit. He waves many things in front of your face to lure you away from what God has called us to as Christians. Thus, it is imperative in this hour as things in the spirit continue to wage war, that we are in a state of prayer and fasting. We must continue to sit still and wait for the Lord to tell us what he wants us to do and believe he will follow through on his promises.
Man cannot see what God is doing behind the scenes in the spirit. Yet, those who are willing to be still and wait upon the Lord will be able to see all in due time what God is doing in the spirit. Those who abide in him will be blessed abundantly just as the men of old were blessed abundantly. Obedience and desire to simply rest and wait patiently upon the Lord is a foundational truth of those chosen and those who choose to stay the course. We are called to do hard things. Sometimes the picking up of our cross looks like standing still and not speaking. Instead, it is our joy to stand still and hold up the cross for all to see that we have been marked by our Holy Father in heaven.
If there is one thing that we gain, let it be Him. For it is God who is worthy of it all. God is worthy of all the glory and praise regardless of the season, reason, triumph, or tragedy. We must pick up our cross and be unafraid to say this is my faith, this is my God, this is what I stand for, and if He asks me to wait, I will wait. If he asks me to be still, I will be still. If he tells me to move, I will move, and if he tells me to let go, I will let go. No longer do I live by my flesh but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Set free by the power and the blood of Jesus on the cross. So today if you are facing something painful, life-changing, or heartbreaking. Fear not and be unafraid. God is with you. If you are waiting for your breakthroughs or next steps, worry not to be in movement, your rest in him is productive. It is okay to be still and wait upon the Lord. He has a plan, and it is good. He will take all that was meant to harm you and will turn it into something good. He will give you what you need, and he will fulfill every promise over your life. The enemy cannot destroy those who love the Lord. For the Lord blesses those who love Him and worship Him. It says in Psalm 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Amen.
