Trickery not Treating

As a child I absolutely hated being scared. The idea of celebrating an entire day and paying people to scare me made absolutely zero sense. Even as a child I felt so odd dressing up. Perhaps, without even realizing the sensitivity of my gifting to see into the spirit realm was being summoned and I was in tandem being attacked. I do not find it a coincidence that every October and every Halloween I would get sick, whether it was a swollen tongue and throat, a cold, a fever, strep, or a flu- it did not matter, I got sick every October. In fact, the more I stepped into my position in the Kingdom of God, the attacks each year became more intense. It was not until I began to encounter God in a powerful way in my mid-twenties the veil over my eyes was lifted and I was able to see why. I saw the ugly truth about this holiday and many others. It is not innocent fun, it is not simply a day for kids to dress up and get candy. We make going to strangers homes and saying “Trick or Treat” dressed up like a zombie to receive a piece of candy seem acceptable when the other 364 days a year most parents would be upset if their child took candy from a stranger, let alone begged to dress up like a zombie. It breaks my heart that we are teaching our children to speak like druids who would go door to door asking for contributions to their demonic worship session to worship their Celtic gods. If the person would not give money the trick was they would kill the person. Why would we let our child commune with such a vile saying and summon these demonic spirits?

As an adult it gets worse, all things morally taboo and socially unacceptable become expected. I find it strange that women dress up scantily clad on Halloween, and guys dress up with fangs and splatter their bodies in fake blood. We then pay to have recurring nightmares from haunted houses filled with terrifying images of knives sticking out of peoples heads, dead babies hung by nooses, and men in masks chasing people with chainsaws. If any of those things are not blatantly demonic then I do not know what is anymore. You know what they say the good will be thought bad and the bad thought good. It is sadly true, and this perspective will peg me as an extremist, but once you have gone through a blood line cleanse and several meetings for deliverance you see so much clearer of Satans tactics on this earth to bind us in ignorance. We have been desensitized to the open doorways we give to darkness in our lives. This is a day and a month where you will see more people and especially Christians bow to the darkness, principalities, witchcraft, and the demonic all in the name of having some fun. The truth is by participating in this holiday among others, by decorating our homes with witches, skulls, dead bodies, and sending our innocent children out to get candy just to poison their bodies with chemical laden sugary toxins all the while fattening the purses of the very people who make money off our ignorance, we invite a partnership with Satan’s biggest holiday in the process.

Okay, so what is my point? Clearly, I am against celebrating this holiday even to the extent of not participating in dressing up, passing out candy, going to haunted houses, and barring my own families participation. Some might say I need to take a step back and relax. Normally, I am a laid back person and I would consider taking a step back and not making a big deal about this, but if we want to honor God, advance the Kingdom of God, represent heaven on earth, tear down wicked principalities, and if we want freedom from oppression, depression, poverty, and spiritual torture just to name a few, than we cannot reason our way into the participation of a day that will open our lives or our families lives to witches, warlocks, word curses, the demonic, and an ultimate death wish on our spirits and souls.

It is the first of the Ten Commandments- Though shall not have any other gods before me. In participating in, imitating, and celebrating Halloween you are worshipping a slew of false gods. Halloween was once known as the Samhain Festival; which was the biggest day of the year for action between supernatural forces and humans. Otherworldly entities such as dead spirits could be summoned and interact with humans. In the process many other false gods are acknowledged on this day including Molech; the deity of child sacrifices, the false goddess of Wica; Diana the deity who has incest with her brother Lucifer, Bast; the false goddess of cats, and jack-o lanterns; which summon a dead lost spirit barred from heaven and hell roaming the earth. This is not fiction, hells demons are as real as the angels of heaven and the fruit of the Holy Spirit and they wish to inhabit our bodies and place strongholds on our lives and ultimately steers us to the pit of hell.

I could go on, but I think you catch my drift. If you want to know more about this holiday I think I have given you an alarming head start. I share all this with you not because I am a thief of joy or because I am bound by the spirt of law and religion. In fact, it is the opposite. I wish to shepherd God’s children back to his heart and away from deceit to set them free. It would be a sin if I knew how this day and month is an open door to crushing peoples souls and could keep them from the entrance into heaven and I said nothing. I could never face myself if I kept quiet to preserve my reputation. When you say yes to Jesus you kind of have to flush your reputation down the toilet. If what you are going for is to be cool or blend in with the world saying YES to the call to share Christ, probably will not bode well. Anyways, in the Bible we have all the backing we need to see this holiday and this month of celebrating witchcraft and the demonic is wrong. Here is a few verses to help you see the truth. Ask yourself how these stack up to your practice of this holiday in any way, shape, or form.

"'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God." - Leviticus 19:31

"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, or who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or one who calls up the dead." - Deuteronomy 18:10-11

"The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so." - Deuteronomy 18:14

"He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger." - 2 Chronicles 33:6

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good." - Romans 12:9

"Avoid every kind of evil." - 1 Thessalonians 5:22

"Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God." - 3 John 1:11

"For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing." - 2 Corinthians 2:15

"This is what the LORD says: Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them. For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel." - Jeremiah 10:2-3

"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge." - Hosea 4:6a

"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them." - Ephesians 5:1, 8-11

We see through both the Old and New Testament the Lord warns us and expresses to us that we should only worship Him, and that it is through our lack of knowledge we will be destroyed. Therefore we must continue to question human practices and question the things of the earth. I think it is days like Halloween we see a lot of souls destroyed from lack of knowledge and conviction. I once read a quote that said whenever one person has the courage to stand up and say, “Wait a minute this is wrong.” It helps other people to do the same. I am here today to say “Wait a minute this is wrong.” While the devil and the fallen angels creep and crawl amongst us from the pit of hell hanging a veil over Gods people, keeping them spiritually deaf, dumb, blind, and dead, Jesus came to share with the world our true identity in Him and through the Holy Spirit breathe life in us so that we might hear, understand, see, and live. While Halloween celebrates death we as the body of Christ get to celebrate the resurrected life of our Lord and Savior. As coheirs to the Kingdom of God we get to partake in life everlasting in heaven with Him. Instead of taking part in cursing others we get the opportunity to bless others.

Over the past few years, I have thought long and hard about where I stood on this topic. The one hesitation I had was that this would alienate me or my someday children causing much pain of being left out or being made fun of or judged unkindly by others. Yet, our Father endured the greatest of humiliations and painful death that there is no longer a justification to not stand in agreement with Him. In order to protect our minds, bodies, hearts, and souls it is through the strength of God I have concluded that new traditions will have to be made instead. For instance, we can still create special family traditions, enjoying ice cream while watching a movie, reading scripture and have a drawing contest depicting our favorite biblical story, or blessing another family with prayer and a meal. It is the little things we do to model to our children that they will be able to carry a supernatural tool belt of ways to navigate living in the world while not partaking in everything presented to them. It is my pray that at the very least this will convict your hearts in the most loving way today. It is my intention to lovingly draw you to Truth not to condemn or berate you. It is in walking with the Truth of Christ at the center of our lives we will truly set people free and guide them into the arms of the Father.
